  • University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Yard & Garden Line Call 612-301-7590 to have your yard and garden-related questions answered by a Master Gardener on duty, otherwise leave a detailed message explaining the problem or question. We will call back with a response.

Talk to a Master Gardener in Person

  • Local Events  We answer questions and provide information at events in your community such as the FamilyMeans Garden Tour, the Mahtomedi Garden Tour, Forest Lake Arts in the Park, Washington County Fair, tree distributions, farmers’ markets and plant sales. Also look for us at the Landscape Arboretum Yard & Garden desk, Minnesota State Fair, Home and Garden Show, and at the Edible Garden during the summer at Como Park.
  • Master Gardener Diagnostic Clinics  Bring your plant or insect samples and a team of Master Gardeners will diagnose the problem and make recommendations. For currently scheduled diagnostic clinics check our calendar.
  • Plant Sale and Diagnostic Clinic Each spring the Master Gardeners in Washington County have a plant sale where you can view educational displays, bring in plant and insect samples for diagnosis, and purchase great plants.
  • Washington County Fair Demonstration Gardens and Diagnostic Clinic Each year in early August, Master Gardeners are on hand to answer general gardening questions in the demonstration gardens. The gardens showcase plants that do well in our climate as well as plants and methods that are being tested. If you bring plant and insect samples during scheduled times we will identify and diagnose your yard and garden problems.

Attend a Class or Presentation

  • Community Education  Master Gardeners use University of Minnesota research to teach classes in South Washington County, Stillwater and Forest Lake. For details and registration information, look for your local school district’s community education class list.
